Student initiatives

Open call to support student initiatives that aim to improve their university and the entire T4EU Alliance

About

Do you have a great idea on how to improve your campus and the Transform4Europe Alliance (T4EU)?

International teams made up of students from three different T4EU universities will be competing with their ideas to receive funding for their project.

Find like-minded students and together create an initiative that will improve collaboration, cooperation, and sustainability of T4EU, as well as benefit general well-being on the university level! Find your Team on the WhatsApp group or join up with new friends form one of the T4EU events.

Initiatives must be submitted in the form of a project with a clear start and end date and budget. Each initiative must positively impact the interconnectivity of the Alliance and improve mutual understanding and cooperation. They should address students with an aim to improve the affiliation and the feeling of belonging to one common transnational campus.

Initiatives should address:

  • inclusiveness and diversity and/or
  • sustainability and/or
  • wellbeing.

To apply, students must fill out the questionnaire HERE and answer a series of questions by 2 August 2026 and send the filled-out budget template (xlsx, 26KB) to transform4europe@upr.si.

The questions are:

  • Provide a summary of your initiative idea.
  • Who is part of your team (name, surname, and contact information), which university do they study at, and what will be their role in the initiative?
  • What Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) priorities will the initiative address and how? (100 words max)
  • How will the initiative improve the T4EU universities? (100 words max)
  • Will the initiative improve the teamwork of T4EU universities and students? Explain how. (100 words max)

  • How will your initiative have a lasting effect on your university and the T4EU universities? (100 words max)
  • Explain how your initiative can be implemented in T4EU universities. (100 words max)

Each initiative can receive up to €2,500 of funding for one and a half years. In the case of funds being left, they will be distributed among the selected initiatives based on needs.

The budget must be justified within the application, with a detailed explanation of how the funds will be allocated and for what purpose.

The funds will cover:

  • direct costs needed to implement the initiative (e.g., purchase of materials or equipment, renting of facilities, equipment, or services),
  • costs related to event organisation,
  • costs related to travel & accommodation,

The European Student Wellbeing Network is a project created by students for students as part of the Transform4Europe university alliance. We are a group of students from the University of Trieste, the University of Primorska and the University of Alicante, and we will be carrying out the project online and offline in the coming months. Our goal is to improve university students’ mental health.

Through our group sessions, we aim to offer students from various universities tools and a sense of belonging, ensuring they know they are not alone. These tools will improve not only their studies but in general, their future professional and personal life. Our initiative will fill the gap between institutional services already offered and the community of students; it will spread the idea that our wellbeing is very important and create open safe spaces to meditate, rest and recenter inside the university.

Here is a questionnaire which is the first step of the project. If you are a student, your opinion is very important to us. It will help us understand what is most useful for you and the student community at our universities. The questionnaire will take 3-5 minutes to complete.

DigitalRoots is a student-led project within the Transform4Europe alliance that explores the environmental impact of digital technologies. Through creative workshops, students transform discarded electronics into sculptural artworks that encourage reflection on consumption, waste, and resource use. These artworks are enhanced with an interactive AR platform that reveals local data on material flows, recycling, and energy consumption. The project will culminate in a traveling exhibition across European universities and cultural events, fostering ecological awareness and empowering young Europeans to engage with sustainability through art, technology, and collaboration.

The Factory of Nature is an interdisciplinary, student-led project that brings communities together to explore sustainability through art, ecology, and traditional craft. Participants co-create a living biodegradable sculpture using natural materials like clay, straw, and earth, reconnecting with ancient, sustainable building techniques. The project also includes creative workshops where personal messages are written on handmade seed paper and embedded into the structure, allowing it to eventually transform into a living ecosystem that supports plant growth and pollinators. Documented through stop-motion animation, the work evolves over time as nature reclaims it. The initiative reframes nature as an active, regenerative system and encourages participants to rethink their relationship with the environment through collaborative, hands-on experience.

4ELemenTS is a two-day cultural event premiering in Trieste, Italy, in Spring 2026, designed as an immersive exploration of the four natural elements – Air, Fire, Earth, and Water through the lens of European art, ecology, and cultural heritage. Each element is paired with a country, artistic form, and environmental issue to highlight how ecological crises intersect with local histories and creative traditions.

The program features poetry, installation art, film, music, and dance across four thematic sessions: Air (Italy) focuses on air pollution and climate change, Fire (Bulgaria) on wildfires and heat, Earth (Poland) on mining and soil degradation, and Water (Portugal) on marine biodiversity and rising sea levels. By bringing together artists, researchers, and audiences, the event fosters dialogue on environmental awareness through cultural expression and is designed to continue as a traveling format across Europe.

Transform4Europe Mobile & Web App is a student-led initiative designed to strengthen connection and collaboration across the Transform4Europe Alliance by creating a shared digital space for interaction. It addresses the lack of a central platform for students and supports inclusiveness, diversity, and well-being within the network.

The app includes three main features: a Language Exchange that enables cultural and linguistic practice between students, Smarter Travel that connects users with local students or travel companions to make mobility more meaningful, and a Project Hub that helps students find collaborators for academic or entrepreneurial initiatives while also providing access to scholarships and funding opportunities. By fostering intercultural exchange and cooperation, the platform aims to build a more connected and collaborative European student community.

Watt-a-fly is a student-led sustainability initiative within the Transform4Europe Alliance that combines renewable energy, design, and cultural collaboration. The project introduces a butterfly-shaped solar structure with photovoltaic wings that generate clean electricity for student needs, such as e-bike stations and public charging systems across campuses.

Beyond its energy function, Watt-a-fly also serves as a symbol of European cooperation, with each installation incorporating cultural elements from different T4EU countries. It is supported by a digital platform featuring energy dashboards, cross-campus comparisons, and interactive tools for student participation and feedback. By promoting sustainability, awareness, and collaboration, the project strengthens the sense of a shared transnational campus and can be replicated across universities and other communities.
