Heritage at work workshop and T4EU Annual Heritage Conference

21–25 October 2021 | University of Silesia, Poland

About

The regional workshop titled “Heritage at work-between the Local and the European” as part of the activities of the Transform4Europe in the framework of WP7, which is carried out online from June 17, 2024 in an international group of about 20 students of T4EU universities, will be continued on site in Katowice on 21-25.10.2024.

In order to complete the course and obtain 5 ECTS credits, participants had two assignments – they had to conduct a study on the common European heritage among student communities and will have to solve the task using the design-thinking method.

The aim of the course is to introduce participants to the subject of cultural heritage, to reflect together on its geographical dimension – local, regional and European – and the interdependencies that occur, as well as heritage management in contemporary Europe.

Part of the program will be implemented as part of the Transform4Europe Annual Heritage Conference, which will take place on 22-23 October at the Museum of Metallurgy in Chorzów (22 October) and on the campus of the University of Silesia in Cieszyn (23 October).

The conference titled “Common European Heritage – theoretical framework, values, sustainability” will consist of two panels: Common European Heritage – Sources and Values and Theoretical Framework and European Values, as well as meetings with local depositaries of the heritage of the Cieszyn Silesia area and a visit to the Polish-Czech borderland. During the conference, participants of the Heritage at work workshop will present the results of their research on cultural heritage carried out among students of T4EU partner universities.

The aim of the conference is to initiate a debate on the understanding and sustainability of European Heritage and to exchange experiences in this area. The conference will be an opportunity to reflect on the impact of heritage on sustainable development, its role in strengthening the identity of local communities and creative ways of managing heritage.
