San Dorligo della Valle (in Slovenian Dolina, in the Triestine dialect Dolina and San Dorligo) is an Italian municipality with 5,678 inhabitants, located in the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The area is notable because most of the municipality lies within Istria (specifically, the so-called Breg Valley), while a smaller portion to the north extends onto the Karst Plateau.
Contribution to WP7: Since 1923, the municipality has combined both the Italian and Slovenian names of the main town. Furthermore it is the easternmost municipality of the region and of northern Italy. Due to these characteristics, the municipality serves as an excellent vantage point and a key stakeholder for reflecting on borderland heritages, both old and new forms of transnational mobility, and issues related to multilingualism.
