Festival of European Culture and Languages
About
The Festival of European Culture and Languages critically explores how tourism shapes and simplifies Europe’s cultural narratives. Using Trieste—a city marked by its border identity—as a living laboratory, participants examine how heritage, memory, and identity are represented and negotiated in urban spaces. Through lectures, workshops, city explorations, and creative performances, the festival encourages students and researchers to challenge dominant heritage discourses and reveal hidden stories. Designed as a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), it combines academic inquiry with performative and interdisciplinary approaches. The initiative promotes a deeper understanding of cultural sustainability and the complex intersections between tourism, mobility, and memory in a changing Europe.
