Science Communication Workshop T4EU “Science Spark – The Spark That Ignites Curiosity”

16 October 2026 | University of Silesia in Katowice

About

How can we talk about science, conduct experiments and inspire young explorers?

What makes some children ask “Why?” with curiosity, while others, when faced with a scientific experiment, say, “Science isn’t for me”?

Sometimes all it takes is a single mystery, a surprising experiment, or an unexpected question to make a difference. This is what Science Spark is all about: the spark of curiosity that can mark the beginning of a fascinating adventure in science.

We invite you to an interactive online workshop where we will explore how to talk about science in a way that not only communicates knowledge but, above all, sparks curiosity and encourages independent discovery.

Together, we will consider what makes children and young people want to listen to science, ask questions and seek answers on their own. We will discuss how to popularize science, technology and the natural sciences in ways that are engaging, accessible and inspiring.

There will be some theory, but above all, plenty of practice!

During the workshop, participants will create a small laboratory at home. Using simple, everyday items that are easy to find, we will carry out a series of experiments together.

You do not need any specialist equipment or prior preparation.

All you need is curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
