Science Communication Course: How to Podcast

The workshop will take place on 3 December 2026 from 4-6 pm via MS Teams.

Conducting scientific research is one thing; discussing it is quite another. It is now clear that podcasting is an effective way to do both: it provides a forum for discussion among researchers and is also a means of communicating with the general public. Podcasts offer students and researchers plenty of scope to talk publicly about science, reflect on their course content, and exchange ideas with other interested parties.

Podcasts are completely free in terms of subject matter, give a voice to diversity and are not bound by any time constraints, whether they are spontaneously improvised or prepared in advance.

Participants in this workshop will receive theoretical and practical guidance on setting up their own podcast, including information on the initial concept, the act of speaking itself and how one is perceived by oneself and others, as well as post-production and publication.

The workshop will be conducted by Elias Harth, a graduate historian and research assistant at the Centre for Teaching and Learning at Saarland University. He offers workshops on the topics of presenting, public speaking, podcasting and AI.
