“Mind, Brain, and Learning: Neuroscience for Higher Education” on 17–19 March 2027
Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) in Lithuania, will host the upcoming international conference Transform4Europe INNO-METHODS 2027: “Mind, Brain, and Learning: Neuroscience for Higher Education” on 17–19 March 2027. Continuing the tradition of previous Transform4Europe European University Alliance conferences dedicated to modern pedagogy, this edition explores what cutting-edge research on the human brain can contribute to everyday higher education practice.
The conference will bring together academic staff, researchers, and doctoral students to examine how findings on attention, memory consolidation, emotion regulation, and cognitive development can directly inform course design, student engagement, and inclusive learning environments. The event is open to participants from across the Transform4Europe Alliance as well as the wider international higher education community.
Over the course of three days, the conference will feature keynote contributors, session chairs, and workshop leaders representing Transform4Europe partner institutions and European research centers specializing in clinical and educational neuroscience, cognitive load theory, and learning sciences. Together with participants, invited experts will examine the biological mechanisms of the learning brain, challenge persistent neuromyths, and evaluate evidence-based teaching methodologies grounded in cognitive and affective neuroscience.
In addition to plenary and research sessions, the gathering will offer hands-on professional development workshops aimed at translating brain research into practical classroom tools, alongside discussions on cognitive load and student motivation.
The event will also host the Transform4Europe Innovative Teaching Awards ceremony to celebrate exemplary pedagogical practices, while an optional third day will provide opportunities for job shadowing.
Call for Abstracts
The organizers invite academic staff, researchers, and doctoral candidates to submit abstracts for parallel session presentations bridging neuroscience, cognition, and university-level pedagogy. Submissions are welcome in both empirical research and practice-based case studies.
Proposals should address the conference’s core thematic areas: cognition and learning (memory, attention, and flexible problem-solving); affective and social neuroscience (emotion regulation, motivation, and learner engagement); moving from evidence to practice (brain-based teaching methods and neuromyths); or broader innovative teaching practices.
Submissions are welcome on, but not limited to, the main topics listed above.
▪ Abstract length: 250–300 words, in English
▪ Please include: title, author(s) and affiliation(s), thematic strand, and 3–5 keywords
