Declaration
The 9th of May is Europe Day – a day on which we celebrate peace and unity in Europe.
It is fitting that it is also the day on which our alliance, Transform4Europe, will hold its inaugural Transform4Europe Week – a week of activities that is intended as an annual celebration of unity and collaboration within our European University.
Open dialogue, the free exchange of ideas and interaction across borders based on the values of liberty, equality and reason lie at the very core of any university. The Transform4Europe Alliance is a cooperative undertaking that aims to renew and foster European integration by building bridges that span national, cultural and linguistic borders. At a time in which the menaces of militarism and imperialism have raised their heads in Europe again, active engagement to uphold and defend the fundamental principles of European integration is more important than ever.
We are committed to ensuring that our Alliance will help to shape the future model of higher education in Europe. The universities in the Transform4Europe Alliance are lighthouses that seek to personify core European values.
By highlighting innovation, collaboration and development, Transform4Europe aims to directly address the social, green and digital challenges of our time and through transformation strive for a better, more humane
and sustainable future.
The cultivation of science, culture and the arts are the bedrock of all flourishing human societies. Through the successful transformation of our institutions to encourage greater cooperation across all fields we ultimately aim to transform Europe by helping to shape the solutions needed to overcome the challenges of the 21st century.
