Destino España (from A2.2)
The aim of this self-study online course is to enable students to prepare themselves for a semester abroad at a Spanish university, for example the Universidad de Alicante (Spain), providing them knowledge and practical information about university life in Spain and strategies to cope with everyday life on site.
The course will focus on academic and socio-cultural aspects of the Spanish language and culture taking into account the communicative and the action-oriented approach.
The course is aimed at students with an A2.2 level in Spanish willing to work independently over 10 weeks in the winter term to complete the course in the MOODLE platform. The form of studies includes self-study tasks and work in virtual MOODLE environment: reading and listening comprehensions, internet researches, interactive tests and exercises. Besides the asynchronous conversations possible with the teacher, there will be an online event (MS Teams) every 2 weeks for practical, oral assignments, possible difficulties, concrete questions and exchange with the teacher and with other students.
All language usage skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) are developed and applied on the topics of student and academic life in Spain.

Multilingualism in Europe
The course introduces the main concepts of multilingualism and provides a wide range of definitions revealing the complicated nature of the phenomenon. It provides knowledge on historical developments of the European nations, their linguistic and cultural changes and emphasizes the historical relevance to the present situation in Europe. The critical study of materials and evaluation includes documentation on the EU policy on multilingualism while placing policy issues in the context of national and institutional perspectives. Due attention is given to the analysis of economic value of languages, the impact of global English as well as the role of other “big” languages in Europe and across the globe. The course will focus on examining cultural and socio-political factors that may influence or even determine person’s identity; In addition, the issues in language ecology, minority/ migrant language loss, development and maintenance of languages will be discussed in the context of challenges set for educational sector and the schooling of multilingual children. The students will perform a research project, analyzing and interpreting multilingualism in different European countries; thus, acquiring deeper theoretical knowledge and understanding of political, educational, economic and socio-cultural aspects of multilingualism.

Danish A1
The aim of this course is to enable students to communicate in Danish in everyday situations and to provide them with the basic knowledge of the Danish grammar (main morphological and syntactic rules) corresponding to level A1. Students learn to read uncomplicated texts with the aid of dictionary, to produce their own written texts using basic everyday language and to understand simple audio texts. The students learn to communicate correctly both in spoken and written forms in everyday situations and get prepared to study Danish in level A2.

Portuguese Language A1
uring the course, the general knowledge of the Portuguese language is acquired, the structure of the language, the grammatical constructions, the vocabulary, and the correct pronunciation are familiarized. All language skills are developed: reading, writing, listening and speaking, with a particular focus on expanding active and passive vocabulary. The learning process involves relevant daily subjects related to personal information and the world around us. Learning the language goes hand in hand with learning Portuguese culture.

Lithuanian as a Foreign Language A1
The aim of the course is to teach the students to understand and participate in a simple communicative situation. The students get acquainted with the most important grammar and pronunciation rules; their practical language usage skills are developed and applied on the topics relevant for beginners: introducing oneself and others, describing objects and places in the city, purchasing or ordering food and talking about family. The students learn how to ask and provide essential information on the topics covered in the course and read simple short texts.

Modern Hebrew, Level A1.1
The course is aimed at students with minimal knowledge of Modern Hebrew (level A1.1). The program consists of a grammar part (syntax: statements, negations, questions, “prefixed” conjunctions (ב, ל, מ, ש, ו, ה(, the past tense of verbs, parts of speech agreement, numbers to 1000 and a lexical part (professions, work, free time, body parts, visit to a doctor, everyday activities, likes and dislikes).

Arabic Language 1
Arabic language Level 1 (elementary) course is based on the development of reception (listening and reading comprehension), production (speaking and writing) and mediation (translation) skills along with grammar and vocabulary development. The course is organized in such a way that the students develop basic awareness of the Arabic language and culture in the Arabic speaking countries. The form of studies includes lectures, seminars, self-study tasks and work in virtual MOODLE environment (on-line work, synchronous and asynchronous conversations and discussion forums, interactive tests and exercises).

Ukrainian A1
The course is designed to gain minimal communicative competence (survival Ukrainian): understand spoken Ukrainian on subjects related to everyday life, talk about and read simple texts on daily life, write simple messages and fill in a form. Contents: basic structures of the Ukrainian grammar, basic vocabulary (family, work, home, food, city, shopping, services, weather, entertainment, health), basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Methods: A communicative teaching method is used, which focuses on teaching all language skills.
