Transform4Europe Strategic Assembly Comes to Sofia

Four days of strategic meetings, academic exchange and AI-focused discussions at Sofia University

26-29 October 2026 | Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”

About

From 26 to 29 October 2026, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” will host the Transform4Europe Strategic Assembly, welcoming representatives from the Alliance’s partner universities to Sofia for four days of meetings, discussions and exchange. The Assembly will bring together university leadership, academic and administrative staff, researchers, students and representatives of the different Transform4Europe structures. The programme includes meetings of the Executive Board, Steering Committee, Management Board and Student Council, alongside sessions for Work Packages, task leads and Joint Offices.

One of the key moments of this year’s Assembly will be the official handover of the Transform4Europe Presidency from Sofia University to the University of Alicante. The occasion marks the conclusion of Sofia University’s term leading the Alliance and the beginning of its next presidency. Academic exchange will also have a prominent place in the programme through the international conference “Data-Centered AI”. The conference will address the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence in education and research, AI-driven data analytics and decision-making, as well as broader questions surrounding the role of AI in higher education and Open Science. Alongside the formal meetings and conference sessions, the Strategic Assembly will provide opportunities for colleagues from across the Alliance to meet, exchange experience and coordinate ongoing and future joint activities. The programme will conclude on 29 October with the T4EU Strategic Assembly Closing Event, followed by further Work Package and task-force meetings, lunch and departures.
