19–20 October 2026 | University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland

About

University of Silesia in Katowice invites students of Transform4Europe partner universities to join Transform4Europe Regional Heritage Workshop delivered in a form of 2-day photography workshop, led by a professional photographer, which will take place on 19- 20 October in Katowice.

The workshop will explore the themes of identity and memory within the urban spaces of Upper Silesia. The participants will search for locations and narratives linked to the region’s complex cultural heritage and history.

The workshop programme includes:

  • An introduction to photographic composition.
  • Tips on how to take compelling photos even with basic equipment.
  • A presentation of the lecturer’s own projects on identity and memory.
  • On-site photography practice in the city.

The second day will focus on developing an exhibition or zine project based on the selected photographs. The final results will be presented at the University of Silesia in Katowice during the conference “City-Memory-Art. Images of identity in urban space”.

Requirements: No previous photography experience is required. Equipment is not provided, but a smartphone camera is perfectly sufficient—the workshop tutors will teach you how to capture striking images with what you have in your pocket.

Registrations are collected at T4EU Offices at partner universities. Nominations of participants will be sent to the organiser.
