The Department of European Studies had the pleasure of hosting Prof. Dr. Habil. Magdalena Bąk from the University of Silesia, Poland. During her visit, she delivered a series of interactive lectures. In the first part, Prof. Bąk examined the role of stereotypes in intercultural communication and how they shape our initial perceptions of other cultures. The discussions and practical tasks highlighted the importance of critically analyzing stereotypes in the interest of genuine intercultural dialogue. The second part of the lectures focused on the intersection of food, identity and global mobility. Prof. Bąk approached food as a complex communication system that reveals deep social, historical and regional identities. Through these collaborative sessions, students enhanced their intercultural communicative competence and cultural literacy, skills of high importance for future specialists in European Studies, whose professional career requires a profound understanding of diversity, the building of international partnerships and the successful management of processes in a united Europe.
During her visit, Prof. Bąk also engaged in a series of meetings dedicated to the strategic development of Transform4Europe. The discussions focused on the development and implementation of joint microcredentials as a key element in the integration of the university alliance.
