The initiative brings together participants from Transform4Europe Alliance universities and partner institutions from Romania and Turkey.
About
Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and, more specifically, the Department of European Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy, is currently hosting a Blended Intensive Programme titled “Multilingualism, Inclusive Learning and Intercultural Dialogue” as part of the university’s activities under the Erasmus+ programme.
BIP brings together participants from the Transform4Europe Alliance, including Saarland University, Germany; Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania; the Estonian Academy of Arts, Estonia; and Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Portugal. Representatives from two partner universities beyond the alliance, Babeș-Bolyai University, Romania, and Marmara University, Turkey, are also taking part. Together, they form a dynamic international learning environment rooted in diversity, collaboration and shared academic exchange.
The programme addresses key priorities of the Transform4Europe Alliance and the Erasmus+ programme and aligns closely with their focus on social transformation. It reinforces the vital role of higher education in fostering inclusive, equitable and socially responsible communities. The main objective of the programme is to explore how multilingualism, inclusive pedagogy and intercultural dialogue can enhance participation, equity and mutual understanding across diverse educational and social landscapes. By bridging theoretical insights with hands-on, interactive activities, participants are encouraged to view language as a valuable resource and to engage meaningfully with cultural and linguistic diversity.
Through interactive sessions, collaborative projects and reflective exercises, participants develop practical strategies for cultivating supportive academic and institutional environments. The programme also emphasizes the importance of embracing otherness, refining intercultural communication and designing learning spaces that uphold core European values. This initiative reflects Sofia University’s commitment to promoting intercultural understanding, inclusive education and impactful academic cooperation within the Transform4Europe Alliance and the Erasmus+ programme.
