RECRUITER “Everything on your resume looks great, Alex. But I have to ask the classic question: What would you say is your greatest weakness?”

CANDIDATE (Without missing a beat) “Honestly? I’m a perfectionist. I just care too much about the details. Sometimes I stay late because I won’t leave until every pixel is aligned.”

RECRUITER (Leans back, small smile) “That’s a very ‘interview-ready’ answer. But let’s try again. Tell me about a weakness that actually makes your life—and your coworkers’ lives—difficult.”

CANDIDATE (The smile falters. A long pause.) “Okay. If I’m being real? I’m terrible at delegating. I get this ‘hero complex’ where I think it’s faster to do it myself than to teach someone else. Last quarter, I burnt out because I wouldn’t hand off a simple spreadsheet.”

RECRUITER (Nods, actually writing something down) “And what are you doing to fix that?”

CANDIDATE “I started a ‘Teaching Tuesday.’ I’m forced to spend an hour training my junior dev on one of my tasks. It’s painful for my ego, but my Saturdays are finally free again.”

RECRUITER “Good. I can work with a human. I can’t work with a ‘perfectionist.'”
