About
This workshop offers a comprehensive guide to designing, organizing, and promoting Pi Day as an engaging and impactful science communication event. It combines strategic planning with creative approaches to promotion, space design, and interactive activities, providing participants with practical tools to communicate science effectively to diverse audiences.
Participants will explore the origins and global significance of Pi Day, as well as its development at the University of Silesia. The workshop highlights how such events can serve as powerful platforms for science communication and public engagement.
The session covers all key stages of event organization, including building a coordinating team, planning the program, launching calls for activities, developing concepts for opening lectures, and managing budgets and sponsorships. It also addresses creative elements such as defining a visual identity, designing contests and interactive activities, and structuring the event agenda.
A dedicated part focuses on promotion strategies, including website creation, registration processes, visual communication (posters, graphics, and merchandise), outreach to schools and media, and participant engagement through newsletters and targeted communication.
Participants will also learn how to design an effective event space, ensuring clear navigation and strong institutional branding.
The workshop includes a practical component, where attendees will develop skills in writing accessible and engaging popular science content, as well as designing interactive formats such as games and contests. Group work and discussions will allow participants to exchange ideas and refine their concepts.
The workshop will be held online via Teams. Participants who complete the workshop will receive a certificate of attendance issued by Transform4Europe.
