About

The latest episode of the Transform4Europe (T4EU) podcast, Reach Out, entitled “Free Future Powers and a Fragile Europe”, tackles a highly topical issue – the geopolitical shifts that are redefining the global balance – and raises a key question: has the post-World War II era come to an end?

Throughout the conversation, the guest, Professor Robert van Voren, a renowned Sovietologist, human rights activist and expert on the political abuse of psychiatry, shares his analysis of a world increasingly marked by tensions between the major world powers. The interview is conducted by Viktoras Bachmetjevas, associate professor at Vytautas Magnus University.

One of the main themes addressed in this episode is the so-called “crisis of democracy”. It explores how recent political trends in the United States may have profound impacts in a global context marked by growing competition between the three major powers: the US, Russia and China.

In this context, Robert van Voren issues a particularly incisive warning about the direction of US politics, highlighting potential weaknesses in democratic systems. “This is probably the end of democracy in the United States,” he states, emphasising the implications these changes could have on a global scale.

Offering a critical analysis of the current situation, the guest reflects on whether the international order established after the Second World War is giving way to a new, more unstable and unpredictable paradigm.
