Completes First Artistic Research Roundtables

Coordinated by the Estonian Academy of Arts

About

The Transform4Europe Alliance has completed the first set of regional artistic research roundtables, coordinated by the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA). The roundtables took place throughout 2025, mainly in October, and mark an important step toward building a shared strategy for artistic and practice-based research across the Alliance.

The aim was is to strengthen artistic research as a driver of innovation, knowledge transfer, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The roundtables were organised to:

  • build a common understanding of artistic research;
  • explore differences, challenges, and opportunities across disciplines;
  • collect examples of practice-based research methods;
  • identify needs for future collaboration and teaching.

By the end of 2025, roundtables had taken place at EKA, Sofia University, Jean Monnet University, the University of Primorska, the University of Silesia, and Vytautas Magnus University.

The results will feed into the T4EU Artistic Research Roadmap and support the development of joint courses and learning materials. The next step will be an alliance level roundtable and expert meeting in January 2026 in Tallinn, during the T4EU Heritage Conference. The conference “Spatial Dimensions of Heritage l Creative Research Capacities” is organized by EKA.
