UP at the EUA Annual Conference

About

Prof. Klavdija Kutnar, Rector of UP, attended the annual conference of the EUA – European University Association, which took place on 10-11 April 2025 and was hosted by the University of Latvia in Riga. The 28th General Assembly of the EUA was also held during the conference.

The conference is an important event for meeting, exchanging practices, networking, and meeting members of other universities in person. Thus, the Rector of UP and Prof. Juozas Augutis, Rector of Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania, the Chair of the European University Transform4Europe, of which UP is a member, met with the President of the EUA, Prof. Josep M. Garrell. The visit was also organised in the framework of the RCRS, which is chaired by UP for the second year.

The EUA Annual Conference 2025 was held under the motto “Connecting the dots on sustainability and resilience” and aimed to try to define what sustainability and resilience as multifaceted concepts mean for universities. The event thus explored how universities can contribute to a more sustainable future – both inside and outside the university while strengthening institutional and societal resilience; and, above all, how university leaders and communities can best implement sustainability and resilience as key objectives of institutional missions, strategies and activities

The European University Association (EUA) is the collective voice of the universities of Europe, institutions that have shaped our world for a millennium. For over two decades, the EUA has played a key role in building university communities across Europe and creating a coherent system for European higher education and research. EUA is a community of over 900 members and affiliates. It represents universities and national rectors’ conferences in 49 European countries, as well as affiliated organisations and networks based both in and beyond Europe.
