How can academic research become a successful entrepreneurial venture?
In the Transform4Europe “Reach Out” Podcast episode “From Lab to Life: Turning Research into Real-World Innovation”, Aylin Suhrborg, Communications Officer Transform4Europe at Saarland University, speaks with Robin Kremer, researcher from the same University, specialising in light-field imaging and image processing, about applying scientific expertise beyond academia.
“If there is something groundbreaking, society will adopt it as fast as it can. I think AI has been the greatest example for that in recent times.” the expert comments regarding transfer process from the academia to the real world.
Robin Kremer’s work focuses on developing advanced methods for capturing and processing visual information. Drawing on his experience as co-founder of the start-up Rock Your Baby, a device for infant car seats, pushchairs and rocking cradles, Robin Kremer discusses the journey from laboratory research to real-world innovation and the entrepreneurial potential of a research-driven mindset.
“It’s scientific, but I think it’s generally always the case that you have a problem and you think about solutions and you have like the first thing that comes to your mind isn’t always the solution, right? And that’s true for the scientific world, but that’s also true for the founder world”, Robin Kremer states, emphasising the parallelism between the “real” world and the world of research.
