About the T4EU Week Lisbon

The T4EU Week Lisbon is one of the flagship events of the Transform4Europe Alliance, bringing together students, academic staff and professional staff from all partner universities for a week of learning, collaboration, governance and community engagement.
The Week is grounded in a shared vision of the university as an active and engaged actor within society, strengthening a sense of belonging across the Alliance while remaining deeply connected to local and global communities.

Theme & Focus Areas
The T4EU Week Lisbon is built around the overarching theme:
Community, Communities: Engage to Transform.
Activities, courses and events explore this theme through the core T4EU focus areas:
- Digital transformation
- Environmental transformation
- Societal transformation
- Knowledge entrepreneurship (as a transversal approach)
Concept & Approach
T4EU Week Lisbon is grounded in the understanding of the university as a space where knowledge is created, shared and applied in close connection with society. The theme “Community, Communities” reflects the dual focus of Transform4Europe: strengthening a shared academic and institutional community while remaining engaged with diverse local and global communities.
This vision is translated into a course-based structure, addressing students, academic staff and professional staff, while intentionally creating moments of convergence across streams. Learning, training, governance and outreach activities are coordinated to ensure coherence between academic work, institutional collaboration and societal engagement.
The Week follows a shared methodological rhythm:
- Mornings dedicated to joint, cross-cutting sessions for all participants
- Afternoons focused on applied, practice-based and community-specific activities
Programme Structure & Streams
The T4EU Week is organised into several complementary streams, designed for different participant profiles:
- A. Student Stream
- B. PhD Stream
- C. Management Stream
- D. Recreational, Cultural & Social Stream
Participants primarily engage in activities related to their stream, with multiple opportunities for interaction across streams throughout the Week.
The Student Stream is the core academic component of the T4EU Week.
Courses:
- Three courses are offered
- Each student participates in one course only
- Courses run throughout the entire Week
- During the application process, students rank their course preferences (1st, 2nd and 3rd choice)

Academic structure:
- Language: English
- ECTS: 3 ECTS
- Format: Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)
- Online component: before the Week (indicative dates: 18-22 May 2026)
- In-person component: during the T4EU Week (25–29 May 2026)
- Assessment: course-specific evaluation and/or knowledge test
- Certification: ECTS awarded by the host university
Selection & Course Allocation:
- Student selection is carried out by each student’s home university
- After students rank their course preferences, home universities allocate their selected students to courses
- For the T4EU Week Lisbon, each partner university may nominate up to 15 students, allocated as follows:
- 5 students per partner university per course
This approach ensures fairness, balanced cohorts and effective academic planning across the Alliance.

Commitment Requirements:
By applying, students confirm that they:
- are available for both online and in-person components,
- are able to complete all assessment and ECTS requirements, and
- commit to full participation throughout the Week.
Students who are unable to meet these requirements should not apply.
PhD candidates participate in the academic life of the T4EU Week while benefiting from dedicated networking opportunities.
- PhD candidates apply through their home university
- Each PhD candidate participates in one course
- Course participation follows the same academic structure as the Student Stream
- Capacity limits apply per course and per university
- Selection of PhD candidates is carried out by the home university, in line with local procedures and course capacity
Additional activities may include:
- PhD-focused networking events
- Opportunities to present and discuss doctoral research
This stream is aimed at staff involved in the governance, coordination and strategic development of the Transform4Europe Alliance.
Participants may include:
- Members of T4EU work packages and joint offices
- Governance bodies and task groups
- Researchers attending meetings, workshops or networking activities
- Participants in this stream are nominated by their home institution
- This stream does not follow the course-based allocation logic

Alongside academic and governance activities, the T4EU Week Lisbon offers a programme of extracurricular events supporting:
- Intercultural exchange
- Informal networking
- Well-being and community-building
Activities may include cultural visits, sports and well-being activities, creative workshops and social events.
Participation is optional and open to participants from all streams.
Application & Selection regarding all Streams
- All applications are managed internally by each partner university
- Students, PhD candidates and staff must apply through their home institution
- Application deadlines and selection procedures are defined locally
- Selected participants are formally nominated by their home university
- Participation is formally confirmed by the host institution (Universidade Católica Portuguesa)
