About
The Transform4Europe (T4EU) Summer School is designed specifically for refugee researchers and scholars at risk at any stage of their academic career – from PhD students to postdocs and experienced researchers.
The training is based on 10 years of EURAXESS network experience supporting refugee researchers. It addresses the critical need for support in navigating new cultural, research, and labour environments, especially for those unable to re-enter academic teaching positions in their host countries.
Programme Highlights:
- Day 1: Arrival, welcome dinner, and social activities
- Day 2: EURAXESS introduction, Communication Skills, Mental Health & Well-Being
- Day 3: Teamwork, Critical Thinking, Intercultural Competence, Cultural trip to Plovdiv
- Day 4: Funding Opportunities, Grant Writing, Group Proposal Activity, Visit to Bankya
- Day 5: Research Careers Beyond Academia, CV & Cover Letter Workshop, AI in Research, Mock Interviews & Networking
- Day 6: Departure

🎯 Objectives:
The summer school aims to:
- Improve integration into the European labour market
- Enhance communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Raise awareness of psychological challenges and support mental well-being
- Develop skills in funding application and job-seeking
- Introduce research career paths beyond academia
Participation Details:
- Target Group: Refugee researchers and scholars at risk
- Participants: Up to 30 total, with each university nominating up to 3 participants
- Cost: Free of charge for selected applicants
- Attendance: Participation in all sessions is expected due to the structured, practice-oriented format
This program combines presentations, group work, discussions, and networking led by experienced practitioners and university representatives from the T4EU Alliance.
