About
From May 26–28, 2025, the European Parliament in Strasbourg became the stage for the fourth edition of the European Student Assembly (ESA) — a key event promoting youth democratic participation across Europe. This year, 230 students from 190 universities and 53 European University Alliances, representing 50 nationalities, came together to debate pressing European issues and propose policy solutions.
Transform4Europe students played an active role, contributing to five of the eight panels, including:
- Panel 1: Mentally (un)stable – How can the EU help young people manage mental health issues caused by overstimulation
- Panel 3: AI, European democracy and civic engagement – How can the EU benefit from Artificial Intelligence in its mission of promoting democracy?
- Panel 5: Education beyond graduation – How can the EU promote lifelong learning to prepare its citizens for rapid technological and socioeconomic changes?
- Panel 6: Living with dignity – What measures should the EU consider to ensure affordable housing for its younger generations?
- Panel 8: Unity in diversity – How can the EU foster cultural understanding and inclusivity in an increasingly diverse Europe?
Across three days of intense collaboration, students developed and debated 76 policy recommendations, of which 74 were adopted. The Assembly also featured interpanel discussions, workshops (including one on AI ethics), and the ‘Village of Alliances’ — a showcase of cross-border academic cooperation.
ESA2025 highlighted the role of European University Alliances like T4EU as vital platforms for civic engagement, innovation, and inclusive policymaking.
