T4EU Green Campus Handbook

The handbook was prepared to serve as a practical guide to support an environmentally friendly approach to campus life in everyday life

About

The Transform4Europe mission is to create an inclusive and green multinational campus with a common identity to benefit all people involved in university life, from students to staff. Focused on sustainability for the individual and institution, the T4EU Green Campus Handbook was prepared to serve as a practical guide to support an environmentally friendly approach to campus life in everyday life.

Universities are more than places of education and research; they are vibrant communities with significant environmental footprints. Every decision on campus, including food sourcing, waste management and transportation choices, influences climate change, biodiversity and public health. This handbook offers clear, actionable steps to reduce environmental impact, whether you’re planning a sustainable event, setting up a campus garden, cycling to class, or simply printing less.

Organised into thematic sections, the guide covers practical areas such as sustainable mobility, energy efficiency, digital sustainability, biodiversity, green procurement, food practices, and more. Real-world examples from T4EU partner universities illustrate how small actions can lead to big change.

The handbook also highlights the importance of collective commitment, providing templates, tools, and inspirational ideas to help communities grow greener together. It’s more than a guide, it’s a call to action.

With the T4EU Green Campus Handbook, we aim to foster a culture of environmental leadership, innovation, and collaboration across European campuses. We invite all members of the T4EU community to use this resource as a stepping stone toward a more sustainable future.
