Online Training Session – Understanding the ERC Mindset

Key Insights for Writing Competitive Proposals

16 September 2025 | Online, 1-3 p.m.

About

Researchers from T4EU partner universities preparing proposals for the upcoming ERC Starting and Consolidator Grant calls are invited to attend an online training session designed to enhance the competitiveness of their applications. The session will take place on Tuesday, 16 September 2025, from 1.00 to 3.00 p.m. (CET) and will be held remotely.

Unlike standard information sessions, this workshop will focus on the strategic and conceptual aspects of preparing a successful ERC application. Participants will gain insights into the ERC evaluation process and learn how to develop a proposal that reflects both strong scientific ambition and feasibility.

Key topics will include:

  • Understanding the ERC evaluators’ perspective and the distinctive ERC mindset
  • Developing a strong narrative for application sections B1 and B2
  • Avoiding common pitfalls and applying effective strategies to highlight project excellence and applicant track record
  • Hearing a first-hand testimony from a successful ERC grantee, offering practical advice and reflections from the application journey

The training will be facilitated by Helena Castro (T4EU – Joint Grants Office) and Nina Christmann (Saarland University – Research Management Division), both experienced in supporting ERC applicants.

ERC Deadlines to Note:
