The second T4EU event day in Katowice and Cieszyn was extremely intense!

The Policy Conference saw the handover of the T4EU Presidency designed to support the development of cooperation between partners. From 2023 to 2024, the tasks related to the T4EU Presidency were carried out by the University of Silesia in Katowice. During this year’s ceremony, Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, Rector of the University of Silesia, symbolically handed it over to our Lithuanian partner – Vytautas Magnus University represented by Prof. Juozas Augutis, Rector of VMU.

In addition, the Strategic Assembly brought together members of the Excecutive Board, Steering Committee, Management Board and Student Council to discuss the future of the Alliance, its strategic goals, challenges, and opportunities. Experts representing T4EU universities also took part in a debate on ‘Diplomacy of universities’.

Another important event was the Global Partnership Forum where representatives from the academic and non-academic communities took up the topic of water. Experts discussed it as an important resource with not only economic value but also high significance from an international relations perspective.

Students participating in T4EU Week were treated not only to activities as part of the modules but also to Languages for Lunch – a short course in the basics of the Polish language conducted by lecturers from the USil School of Polish Language and Culture. Participants of the European heritage workshop were introduced to 3D modelling and had a guided tour of the Silesian Museum in Katowice by Prof. Jerzy Gorzelik and Leszek Jodliński.

The day also saw the opening of the Annual Heritage Conference held under the slogan ‘Common European Heritage – theoretical framework, values, sustainability’, the aim of which was to initiate a debate on the understanding and sustainability of European heritage and to exchange experiences in this field.

Participants of all events were able to visit the Nikiszowiec district of Katowice, and in the evening, they had the opportunity to take part in a film night, i.e. a screening of short films prepared by the Krzystof Kieslowski Film School at the University of Silesia, as well as a Silent Disco.
