From European alliance to global actor
In 2025, T4EU took a decisive step beyond Europe. The strategy was operationalised through the signing of the first global cooperation agreements with partner universities in Australia, Georgia, and Mozambique. These agreements are more than formal partnerships – each is supported by a joint roadmap for 2025–2027, setting concrete directions for teaching, research, mobility, and civic engagement.
By aligning all partners around a shared global vision, T4EU strengthened its capacity to act internationally. This positions T4EU as a reliable and engaged partner worldwide.
Turning research into shared knowledge
The second annual round of the T4EU Science Communication Course expanded training opportunities across the Alliance, equipping participants with practical skills to communicate research beyond academic circles. Delivered through a coordinated series of workshops, the course reached students, doctoral candidates, early-career researchers and academic staff.
With 246 participants trained, the initiative strengthened a shared approach to public engagement. It also laid the groundwork for future Alliance-wide formats, including the planned Science Communication microcredential.
Science in conversation with society
Science Cafés brought research out of lecture halls and into open, informal spaces across four countries in 2025. Through accessible discussions on societal challenges, academics, students, and citizens met as equals to exchange ideas, questions, and perspectives. The events connected universities with their surrounding communities and regional stakeholders.
Engaging 330 participants, the initiative demonstrated the value of dialogue-driven outreach. For T4EU, Science Cafés have become a living format for civic engagement and public trust in science.
Conversations shaping our shared future
The podcast series introduced a new cross-Alliance format for science communication. Eight episodes published in 2025 explored such topics as societal transformation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, governance, and the intersection of art and science. Produced collaboratively by partner universities and featuring high-level academic and societal voices, the podcasts offer an accessible entry point into T4EU’s research and mission.
Now established as a permanent Spotify channel, the series extends the Alliance’s reach beyond campus walls. It invites listeners to engage with science through conversation, curiosity and real-world relevance.
Learning with and for society
Service-Learning at T4EU was strengthened through the co-creation of shared Alliance-wide guidelines, developed via expert workshops, consultations and collective reflection on pedagogical practice. The guidelines were complemented by training workshops, supporting academic staff in integrating service-learning into curricula and building meaningful collaborations with community partners.
With over 110 staff members trained and actively exchanging practices, the initiative created a common pedagogical framework. It transforms education into an experience where academic knowledge meets social responsibility and real-world challenges.
