This course aims to examine contemporary human rights as a sociopolitical phenomenon, its evolution, implementation challenges, and possible solutions. The interdisciplinary course explores the social, cultural, political, and institutional-legal aspects of human rights implementation. Students will analyze the United Nations human rights system and its implementation on the local, national and global levels, will explore universalism of human rights and cultural relativism, intersectionality, examine arising human rights issues in the areas of gender, sexuality, religion, migration.
