About

The Transform4Europe Week started today at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Between 26th  and 30th  September 2023, the attending students, professors and university staff from all over Europe are replacing the traditional educational process with meetings, workshops, shows and cultural events. The current edition is dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the establishment of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and is focused on the doctoral programs of the Alliance institutions.

The guests at the opening of the Transform4Europe Week were welcomed by the Functional Rector of International Activities of SU – Prof. Dr. Maria Stoicheva and the Vice-Rector for Academic Activities – Prof. Dr. Georgi Valchev. Official speeches were made by some of the guest speakers and partners who will be an active part of the event in the coming days. Attendees also had the opportunity to enjoy a musical performance by the student vocal group “Linguaccord”.

Within the framework of the first day of the Transform4Europe Week, a number of courses for PhD students and young researchers dedicated to specific aspects of academic professions, including the promotion of research results and access to information through digital platforms, were launched. Joint meetings of teachers and staff working with doctoral students are also planned. They will be dedicated to the mentoring and professional development of young researchers. Later in the day, a joint tour of the Main building of the university is also scheduled.

The current edition of the event is being held in partnership with the European Researchers’ Night 2023. The Transform4Europe Alliance will be represented with its own stand within the forum on 29th September. This will enable students, researchers and the general public to become familiar with the work of the consortium.

The “Transform4Europe” Alliance unites ten European universities: the Saarland University (Germany), University of Alicante (Spain), Estonian Academy of Arts (Estonia), Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Portugal), University of Primorska (Slovenia), Jean Monnet University (France), University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland), Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (Bulgaria), University of Trieste (Italy) and Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas (Lithuania), which are working to create a sustainable European University model with joint leadership and service structures.
