31 March – 1 April 2025 | Jean Monnet University, Saint-Étienne

About

The Matchmaking Event for Joint Studies was held on 31 March and 1 April 2025; it brought together vice presidents, rectors, programme coordinators, and academic staff from 10 universities across Europe for two dynamic days of discussion, collaboration, and innovation.

Hosted by Jean Monnet University, the event marked a significant milestone in the progress of the T4EU Alliance, particularly in the development of joint programmes and Seamless and Vertical mobility paths and Microcredentials.
This event provided an opportunity for the vice-rectors for education and studies from each university to meet and exchange about the T4EU strategy for joint studies, and to discuss how it aligns with the positioning and priorities of their respective institutions.

From the outset, the meeting fostered a strong spirit of cooperation and shared purpose. Sessions such as Seamless and Vertical Mobility in Applied Foreign Languages and Physics, along with presentations on new joint programmes in Romance Languages, Chemistry, Sports Studies, and Digital Transformation, highlighted the alliance’s deep commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-border academic collaboration.

The joint programme in Natural, Exact and Technical Sciences – Aquamatics was presented as a promising model for future expansion and generated significant interest among colleagues from UJM. Building on this momentum, plans for future collaboration are already underway, not only within this programme, but also in the fields of Biomedical Sciences and Medicine. Invitations have been extended for onsite visits to foster closer ties with local teams and to explore the creation of new mobility pathways.

Another key moment was the unveiling of new microcredential initiatives during the Microcredentials Workshop, which featured contributions from several institutions. These short, stackable qualifications aim to make academic content more flexible and accessible, particularly for lifelong learners and working professionals.

The event also served as a launchpad for innovative Microcredentials, including topics such as Intercultural Communication, AI and Legal Frameworks, Chemistry and expanded MCs across disciplines at JMU and UP. These new offerings reflect the alliance’s forward-thinking approach to curriculum design, aligning with both academic needs and societal challenges.
